Patricia HardyParticipantWe had an application for a HMDA reportable loan. The application was a joint application but one of the borrowers did not qualify due to a low credit score. The co-borrower continued with the loan. The same loan number was used when the application continued on. Only one HMDA input form was completed for the loan. The borrower who was denied was sent an adverse letter. I have a few questions. First, should a new loan number have been assigned to the continued application? Second, should there be two HMDA input forms- one for the first one showing two borrowers and another one showing just the remaining borrower?

Susan EberhardtParticipantI know I am late to give you my response but our practice would be to deny the loan and take a new application with the qualifying borrower. Much cleaner from a Reg B and HMDA perspective. Having a duplicate loan number on the LAR may cause complications.
